Language of image, form and color?
What is this event about? The objective of the event is to give people new ideas. What is the link between a painting and a garment? Why is one canvas suitable as a dress and not another. What does a painting add to your appearance or does it detract because it draws too much attention. All things to consider. Is a canvas you like also the canvas you have a blouse made from? What are the criteria for a garment and what are the criteria for a painting in your interior? Can it be brought together? That is the challenge we are now facing, together with a select group of people, for whom the clothes will be made.
A painting can capture people’s imagination. Imagination of own thoughts, wishes, plans, dreams, fears. The way the painting is made; color, use of materials, way of applying the paint etc is all important. But the artist also plays a role. That is one of the things I did notice over the past few years. The painting establishes a relationship between the customer’s perception and the creator in many cases.
What does fashion do? Fashion, clothing style, choice of materials, model, colors and fabrics. What do you want to radiate, who do you want to be, how do you dress and so on. There again, the perception of the wearer and the viewer and in the case of custom-made clothing, the couturier, all three play a role. There, too, an interplay of many factors.
We want to start connecting these worlds. You understand that this is a wonderful, but also powerful interplay of feeling, expertise and skill. In addition, we want the viewer, the audience to share in the worlds of both our subjects, the passion we put into it day in and day out. We actually want to make people think, take them on a journey into the imagination. To show what it does to you when you step outside the box. To show and feel how you can look at art and fashion in a different way. Hans Noordstrand will explain the project from the side of fashion. I will use my own enthusiasm to give a brief explanation of how a painting is created, why my canvases can be seen as a visual diary. I hope everyone will realize that they can paint, but that it is a matter of letting go of the sacred need to represent something and that there is no right and wrong in artist land. I hope that a large number of people will take the plunge and take a class at home or at an artist’s studio.
